you may have seen my other threads about my new 50gal hex I'm getting hopefully this will be the last question I have, But before you as " Why a hex? " I'll give you an answer right now: I had no choice its my mum shes crazy :screwy:

So I want to know a cool looking pleco that does good in groups and cleans well :grinyes:

I have goy possibilities I'd like you to think what the best one is and reccomend a good one that isn't on the list:)

  • Golden nugget plec
    Zebra pleco
    bristlenose plec

Thanks! :headbang2 :woot:

good looking = zebra/gold nugget

good cleaner = bushy/bristlenose

zebra = $$$

there are literately hundereds of plecs. zebras are really expensive, 100s of dollars, but i duno, u may have money to burn. GN's are carnivorous so if you wana keep crabs and/or shrimp, i duno about them, i had 2 red claw crabs that did fine, but i have lots of hideouts and stuff. You could try a panaque sp. there are lots and lots of different colour and pattern morphs. L034 pleco would be a nice change to a bristlenose if you could find one. There are abolutely tonnes you could go for, try planetcatfish.com or http://www.transfish.de/L1-25.html to see if anything takes your fancy

As davo said the possibilities are endless. For a 50G hex you will be limited to plecs that max at about 6". As to good cleaners the bristlenose are going to be your best bet. An Acanthicus hoplogenys would be a nicer looking species.

Thanks guys I'll keep all that in mind :woot:

I love my L204 Flash Pleco.. great pattern, stay small, good cleaners for the most part.. Might do a bushynose with it for any algae growth.. :)

Flash plec hmmmm sounds cool what is the average price for them?
