looks like an albino chocolate to me...but im not very good at id'ing things

Yeah, it's for sure an albino chocolate. I've got a pretty good size one in my tank as well. Loves his veggies (zucchini is their fav) and is very calm and a great tank mate.

Awesome.. the attendant at the lfs said that they grow like a common.. true? not true? I normally don't like albino anything... but his color isn't quite albino to me, it's peachy brownish... ;)!

Hey....quit taking all the good plecos in San Antonio!!!:) I saw a couple nice rubber lip plecos the other day, think I might go back and pick one up!!

First the size: Since they 'come' from a common...in theory they should reach the same size however in about 18 years of seeing this kind of pleco, the biggest one I've seen was 14inches. I've never heard or have been told of a larger size from them.

The albino issue: These are not albinos. The fish are actually created by man. I don't know if they were attempting to create an albino or what. When these guys first showed up they were being called red eye red pleco. I'm guessing they were not big hits and then some vendor decided to boost sales by throwing the term albino into it. They tend to be shy.

Actually both these plecos are becoming very common nowdays and I see them everytime I go to a fish store.

Where did you get him at? Fintique should have them cheaper. Last time I was there they sold out of real albinos for $11. The last one I bought, I paid $75(wholesale price) back in the 90's

Hey Warborg! You sure are nifty!!

I actually got this one from Fintique.. they called it a 'Yellow Plec' though...

That's a surprise from them. They were selling Longfin albino BN for $3.00 when I was there last summer. They cost around $20 up here in Austin.
