about a week ago i got a smokin deal on 2 8 inch bala sharks, after 5 days in a qurantine tank i put them in my community tank. later that night i noticed 1 of the bala's with his mouth open and he never seemed to shut it, it almost looked stuck open. so this morning i found my pleco and cray feeding on the dead bala. they pretty much finished him off but i pulled out the remaining parts of the bala. so my concern is im not sure what killed the bala and now fear that the pleco and cray may be at risk for sickness!

The crayfish will be fine but I would worry about your pleco. If the jaws were locked, are you sure the bala shark never injured itself in the process? They tend to be skittish and rather jumpy and are a danger to themselves.

yeah its possible that the bala injured him self, but i dont think that was the cause of death. when i talked to the wife today she said that she had noticed the bala just kinda swimming slowly at the bottom of the tank (this was after i was already in bed).

im just a lil worried about the pleco not so much my cray. he's a 14 inch monster pleco that ive had for about a year.

My theory on this one is the crayfish may have gotten a hold on him while he was already weakened. Weak fish tend to be easily victimized in the end as they are unable to defend themselves. What species are your crayfish and pleco anyway?
