I just got two small pleco, and two large plants. Anyone think this is a bad combo? I know that pleco are algae eaters, but are they also plant eaters? I'll be nice if they can do one, but not the other considering that the light in this tank is very intense, and algae will spread quickly.

First off, not all 'plecos' are algae eaters, and few are algae eaters for life. Two, the type of plant will also have effects on the outcome. So will the quality of feeding you are providing the plecos. The proper housing, and maintenance, of the plants will also dictate whether or not this combo will work. This being said, I have several 'plecos' in my main display planted tank, as well as all of my plant prop tanks.

Yup.. it depends on the type of pleco and type of plants.

Some plecos will eat some plants, and some get so big they accidently bulldoze them :nilly:

But you can set up combinations that work fine.

Cheers
