What is the general consensus on plecos with flowerhorns? I'm more interested in the bristlenose as they can actually keep a tank algae-free. Right now my Kamfa is only 2 1/4", so I'm thinking it's best to get him used to a tankmate sooner than later. I want to keep the lights on a bit longer (right now it's usually 2-5 hours, trying not to go near 6-8 as I get algae blooms) so a pleco would help.

Do they do fine with them like other cichlids, or will I just be keeping an eventual snack?

A flowerhorn will give a pleco a run for its money but get something that gets pretty big I keep gibbys with mine they max out around 16 to 18 inches thats weird though I keep my lights for about 12.5 hrs and have a minimal algae problem yeah it grows but the plecos have to be out of a tank for weeks before its noticeable but my flowerhorns snack on it its unwanted but beneficial
