I have never seen this, not on any other fish. 180 gallon tank cycled and trates are 10-30 ppm due to 50%wc once a week, with an AC110,fx6 and a 3 sponge filters; pulling some air because of being hooked to a jehmco. stock is 5 severums, a bgk and a few lemons. when in water it looks like a beard, i took it out and is in a qt tank, i asked a few people other fish people I know personally and they all said it wasnt mouth fungus, so idk

take it as a common Pleco, there is a species specific virus that's pretty common and not curable, it does go away after a few months. hard to tell out of water. this the name of it. lympohcystis virus

so it is not contagious to my other fish, it is a hi fin and new, just dont want it to kill my bigger and more cared for fish

if that's what it is no, just to pleco. keep in mind a hi-fin will get up to 20" and grow pretty quick.
