pleco bloated or egg bearing??????

hiya i have 30 baby starlight bristle noses 3 of these have swollen up like balloons they are only 3months old and about 1.5/2 inches long, they are fed on hikari algae wafers, massivore delite i tab per day and a small ammount of blood worm as i said only 3 out of the 30 are sollen could this be bloat or could they be egg bearing any help would be great thank you

My guess is bloat. I don't think these plecos are sexually mature at 3 months.

There seems to be some controversy as to what causes bloat (excess meaty foods, bad meaty foods, too much pellet food, etc). If it were me, I would reduce the massivore delite feedings, and perhaps add some blanched veggies (zuchinni/courgette, sweet potato).

thanks for replies sadly i have lost 2 one still alive cut the massivore delight water quality is ok all checks are low so still baffled

they need fiber,veggies.Thats the result of too meaty foods.

ur problem is over feeding.. U'r feeding massivore delite tab each day and also blood worms...

Both are rich in nutrients and shouldn't be fed each day.. In fact blood worm have problems of making any fishs belly bloat and result in death.. It is better to fed once every other day.. Algae wafers can be fed each day..
