Pleco "cleaning" shovelnose?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah plecos often develope a taste for slime coat and start ravaging slow moving fish. Bichirs are common victims :(. I'd seperate them immediately

YUP! gotta seperate them. The pleco might not be interested in eating the SN, but it will suck off all the slime coat and stress out the SN. Plus, if you allow that, what if the pleco wounds it one day? Not worth taking the chance. I've seen Chinese Algae Eaters suck the slime coat off my old LSN, it did no harm but the LSN hated it. SN's are easily freightened, very aware of their surroundings.

Def. remove the pleco, this is just the beginning. Been there done that. He will def. damage your tsn., in the long run, (to say the least)!!!!! :)

That sucks bigtime.

I was thinking about a tsn but i have several pleco's, bad idea then ?
Is this bount to happen or a small chance ?

watch his fins they may start getting riped up

Will just any pleco variety do this or certain kinds? Should I be watching my 7 inch Sailfin more closely? lol But in all seriousness I would imagine this can be a big problem to some with prize specimen type catfish.
