I have had 3 plecos die within 2 months. All bought from differnt places.. the only 2 theories I have are that #1 there is something wrong with my water, but it only affects my plecos and not the 11 other fish in the tank #2 I just may have an aggressive tank and my smaller plecos are being picked on and just cannot make it?

I have 2 convicts, 2 jack demps, 3 elec yellows, 3 blue cichlid one pike and a tire track eel, and I have a large 10" pleco now and he seems healthy.. so we shall see how it goes. if the large one makes it, I figure that maybe its just the aggressive tank.. any ideas? anyone? what could it be?

What types of plecos where the smaller ones, how small is small...If I where to guess based upon the information provided so far I would have to say # 2 in that the smaller plecos could not compete effectively for food.....

its a 60 gallon, and the smaller pleco was only like 3" my large one is doing well. he is 10" ish.. so we shall see. yes there is plenty of places for them to hide. and I am throwing in Hikari discs every night. its strange

Have you tested your water quality for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and ph recently? If yes, can post the stats here please?

Did you see any agression from the other fish towards the plecos? What are the exact measurements of the tank and what type of plec/s do you currently have?

its a standard rectangle.. I have wood in there, have fake plants, plenty of hiding spots, and no.. the other fish do not mind the plecos.

someone advised me that maybe since my gravel is uncoated.. and its older, that it could be sucking up poisons and that I need to change my gravel? and when the plecos eat it, they are just eating poison.. anyone hear of that?
