Ive had a gold nugget pleco for about 6 months. Everything was going fine and yesterday it died. I saw it eat the night before. I do weekly water changes of 25%. I tested my water and the ammona and nitrites were zero. The nitrates were 20ppm. What could have gone wrong?

Sorry for your loss. I just found my common pleco floating belly up this morning. It hasn't been eating for a week and half now so I guess he had some type of bacterial infection. Do a 50% wc to bring that nitrate level down some more.

i lost two gold nuggets within a week. i know its not the water or food i think because i have three other species of plecos in the same tank and they are doing fine.
