well last january i got my gibbicep pleco (it says common on my signature, need to change it) anyway all i have seen eat is algea but at feeding time i put in a prawn and it ate it, my oscar missed it so it started eating! i am so proud this week because i just got my flowerhorn eating to (flowerhorn was on a hunger strike) nothing wrong with the water or filtration, i am so proud:nilly::headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:nilly:

congrats.. although you probably should be feeding it more... i would do veggies from now on..

Try giving it some fresh veges on a clip or rubber banded to a rock.

Common and Sailfin plecos etc can live for a while on algae and leftovers, but long term they need some serious feeding. LOTS of veges, and some meaty treats. You also need to keep him growing so he doesn't get monstered by the big cichlids.

But having him out feeding is a good sign. My big sailfin comes up for floating cichlid pellets and bats the Oscar out of the way to get them. :D
