Hi everyone:
My common pleco has a ruptured fin (the big one on his back). I have no idea what caused it, but it is the least agressive one in the tank and always the last one to get a try at the veggies.
The other common pleco's finnage is looking great. he is also occupying an area they used to share, but now the one with the ruptured fin has moved to a lonely corner in the left.

he may also have hurt himself somehow? or is it an illness?
he eats normal, behaves normal, just this fin looks terrible. it is almost split in half.

There are six L numbers and pleco's (in total 4 species) in my 2000 cm long tank, lots of wood, space, big plants and holes for them. The other occupants are angel fish (altum) and appistogramma.

What could I best do to help him get his fins better? I would try to catch him and put in quarantine tank but he is faster than me:), the stress is causes may not help him.
anything I can do for him now? My tank is at 29 degrees C, parameters are fine.
thank you all!

20 m tank? one too many zeros?

no, it is 2000 cm. centimetre. so, only 2 metre. :) wish is was 2000 metres long, could have more L numbers!

my specific fish are: L033 (1), L010 (1), L018 (1), L134 (2) and L191 (2). It is the panaque that has the problem. I can L018 baryancistrus can be pretty nasty, he is the biggest L number in the tank, but there is plenty of room to leave him alone actually....

anyway it is 2 metres:) 80 cm high and 80 cm wide
very bad at maths, very bad....

anyway.... how about my pleco's fin?

Someone on another thread (Pleco in hot water) suggested a stress coat. You could also try Melafix. Either could help (though it'd be very expensive to treat in your large tank).

I think all you may need is some more places for the fish to hide and some time. If its "caudal fin" gets worse, then you should seriously consider catching it and putting it in a quarrantine tank.

thank you all... I'll just give it some time. yesterday I put some other pieces of wood in the tank, forming more caves and hide-outs. Now, every pleco and L number can have a choice between 3 different hiding places at least and who knows what they create themselfes by digging in the substrate under the wood.... also I started to put veggies in three different locations so they won't have to compete so much at one spot. See how that works out....
