Hey guys I was wondering if you could recommend a Pleco for my juvenile dovii tank. I have 5 that are all about 3-3.5 inches. I was thinking if I introduced a larger Pleco at this time they would leave it alone and become accustomed to it as they got bigger. I would like this Pleco to have big algae appetite also. Thanks

Adonis.. Before you shoot me down, doviis are pretty slow growers as in not being rtc's.. The adonis is mean as freaking hell.. Actually one of the worst attitudes i've ever seen in a fish and i've kept micropeltes and northern pike..

If you get one at 10" and feed it like you should the doviis will probably get their behinds so freakishly well spanked at 7-8" they will remember it forever..

A Bristlenose would end in up being dinner before too long so maybe not a good idea once a Dovii reaches around a foot.

Commons, Sailfin, or as mentioned Adonis. There are others that grow 20 inch+ but they are slow growers.

once the dovii hits 12 inches or even sometimes a bit less any pleco will be toast, just from my personal experiences

Assuming the pleco grows slower than the dovii.. Once the dovii hits 12, the adonis is supposed to be 18-20" and still better armed than the dovii.. When the dovii gets to 20" the adonis should be 30".. And still better armed.. Etc..

Not saying it Will work but until someone proves me wrong by doing it i think it should work..

I thought doviis were pretty good healers? ;)

Just kidding, i know doviis are extremely tough fish and i have no facts backing up my thoughts.. It's just a theory that i would love for someone to try.. I've seen many "oh it kills everything i try with it, it must be satan"-sort of fish get pretty humble when facing something bigger and badder.. :)

Iv had a 16 inch common pleco with my dovii wen he was 10 inches. I mean the pleco could have lived in the tank but every second the dovii was on him and his fins were torn to shreds. Iv never owned an Adonis before tho
