I am just kind of getting into plecos and I want to spruce up my tank with some vegetation. I have 2 L190, a large leopard sailfin, and two bristle nose. I have never had any plants in the tank with them, so please give me your thoughts.

I guess first question would be, whats your setup like?

Do you want to go Hi-tech or keep it low tech? what type of lights are you running? do you plan on dosing with ferts and Co2?

But i guess the one plant i love to recommend is the Anubia's species, since they are probably one plant thats impossible to kill...

I have a very simple set up, no fancy lighting just gravel, driftwood, and lots of filtration. I definitely don't think I'm ready for the all out planted tank. I just want to change the the tanks look a bit.

In that ase, personally i would say anubias, java fern, amazon swords and certain mosses could be a good starting point...

Amazon swords need a lot of light. I had anubias growing in the gravel, and my L91 would uproot it until I put a "cage" around it. You could try putting yours in a pot to protect it. But if your L190s don't move the gravel, you could try some deep rooting plants like crypts (I have a 75g with L114 and L7, and it's full of crypts, java fern, bolbitis, and floating plants).

I think the better thing to would be to have driftwood, and attach the java fern or anubias to the driftwodd in the upper parts of the tank; as plecos tend to stay near the bottom, hopefully they won't destroy the plants. Another plant you could try is bolbitis on driftood.

I'm going to check those all out for sure, it'll be nice having another dimension to the tank.
