I've been wanting to add a pleco to my cichlid tank for sometime but the only decent size plecos I've seen are the common plecos which I'm not interested in and the bristle noses and rubber plecos that have interested me are all perfect swallow size for almost everything already in there.

So I was think about growing a pleco out in another setup and was wondering how fast of a growth rate I could expect?

You're worried about the oscar yet you have a little musk in there.

Musks can be relentless when trying to eat a fish. Plus plecos are not the best at keeping out of danger unless there are tons of hiding spots. Then you risk having your juvie turtle get stuck under or even in one of those hide aways.

I dont think a plecos is a good choice, but in the end it's your choice

My musk isn't at all interested in fish, if anything he's a push over and is easily bullied by every other fish in the tank even though some are smaller than him. Even when smaller fish are added as feeders there is no interest unless the Oscar kills one and decides he's full. In my experience, and other people I've talked to, common musks are more scavenger than predator. Though I'll admit some other musks might be more prone to predation, so I can only speak for musks I have experience, but I'd go as far as trusting him with community fish.

Also there are plenty of hiding places in there for the turtle and the fish to all get away from each other. All are either way to small for the musk to get in or big enough for him to get in and turn around.
