Hello all.. im a new member to MFK as well as to the aquarist hobby and im already hooked with both.. now ive been doing my research like i should be doing but i find that alot of information online is conflicting which causes a problem espically when im trying to identify something and another site says its something totally different.. This is where i need help.. im constructing my wish list of fish to add to my 30 gallon grow out tank to eventually my 125 complete setup i purchased.. I would like to hear your advice on some very unique cool looking plecos besides a common one that i can find anywhere.. im not looking for something thats way to expensive like a zebra pleco but im willing to spend anything under 200$ on one.. so if anybody would be willing to name off some english names for some cool plecos and about how much they cost and how readily they are avalible that would be greatly appreciated and thank you ahead of time

Gold Nugget Pleco- got mine for 35$ fairly common, most LFS's can get one for you if you ask them,

Royal Pleco- the price depends on the type of royal, but most I've seen are around 40$, these guys are also fairly easy to find, but they need driftwood, so if you get one, make sure you have some in your tank

I think the coolest plecos are the starlight bristlenose (L183) but they are happiest lower pHs and soft water. Sure Zebras (L46) are cool looking but are stupid expensive for a fish that is captive bred. Go over to planet catfish and browse a bit. Make sure you check what water parameters they require as some plecs need hard water high pH and some need soft, low pH water and some are happy in whatever. Having the 120 is nice but don't go too crazy with many large plecs (like the common sailfin that can grow to 20").
