About a month ago I picked up a pleco which I thought was L22. Over this past month it has grown almost 2 inches already, which my previous one didn't do. It also is changing color and getting more yellow than I remembered. Before the color change happened about two weeks ago we were out and saw two more small plecos that looked the same, and picked them up as well, they aren't growing as fast and are still darker. So are the little ones (3 inches) going to change color too, are they L22, how do I sex them?

Sorry for poor pic quality, I took the big pleco pic tonight but the shutter wasn't set up fast enough and it blurred a bit, the little pleco pics were taken 2 weeks ago when they were new. They went to the glass right away and gave me a chance to photo their stomachs so I could see if they were gaining weight. They looked a bit skinny when I first got them but have put some weight on now and are growing, just not as fast as the big one.

Interesting.. I was under the impression they were L022 but those photos look closer to what they look like than the ones I found. Is there anything special these guys prefer for food or anything and should I even bother sexing them, I am not trying to breed them I just didn't know if males would get territorial when they were older.

They love pretty much any foods, most will destroy veggies. The get 18"+ and grow rather quickly. Hope you have a large tank for them

I thought they stayed closer to 12 inches? I have them in the 125g for now, I can split them up into other tanks as well once bigger.

What kind of pricing do these guys usually have when they are 4 inches and when they are bigger? I'm not worried about selling them, just kind of curious.
