I Ianab Feeder Fish MFK Member Sep 14, 2007 681 1 0 New Zealand Jul 23, 2011 #7 As it was caught in a local lake, chances are it's one of the "Common" species. Count the rays in it's dorsal fin. If it's 12, then it's a Pterygoplichthys species. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/genus.php?genus_id=6#88 Chances are someone dumped a couple of Commons when they outgrew the tank, and the water is warm enough for them to survive and breed... Bet there are some BIG ones lurking the lake now.... Ian
