I caught some of these in Buffalo Bayou in the middle of Houston of all places....they have apparently established themselves quite well in our water system. Nice looking animals, but I don't know the species...any help would be greatly appreciated! Some of them that I saw were pretty large (9 inches plus).

Thanks!

wow.. it might be a common pleco it looks like a Hypostomus family..

no idea on what it is...

I count about 10 rays on it's fin. I think it's a Pterygoplichthys.

Maybe a disjunctivus/pardalis mix. More pics may help (belly shots)

Thanks! Here's a belly shot. The second photo in my first post (underwater) gives an inaccurate representation of its color....its not as yellow.

If it was from a store I'd be tempted to say it's a new kind but since it's "wild" caught... I'm going to stick with some kind of hybrid/mix.

Thanks for the info...I am going to try to see what invader/non-native species are listed with Texas Parks and Wildlife and see if any Hypostomus/Pterygoplichthys species are listed.
