i have no photo id as i cannot find the cam but at the store it was labeled as plecostomus. i looked up plectotostamus on plan catfss and it cam up with a H genus(forget which one) but the colour of that fish is lighter than mine but that was an adult where as mine is a juvie. if it helps he has black spots and a really natrual dark brown colour. he also has spots on his under side. he hides alot so i can count rays in the dorsal fin.

Go back to the store, and count how many dorsal spines it has. That will identify whether or not we are dealing with hypostomus or not.

Are the edges of the fins orangish tan? kinda looks more like a leopard than a fish? if so, you have the same thing we do. We think it's an L147, but we're not sure until I can get our close-ups onto my photobucket.

If they are really well fed they can grow an inch per month. Usually a bit less than that, but they will easily reach 12", and up to 18"

Mine is about 8" long now.

Thats what earns them a place on MFK ;)

Cheers

Ian
