Got this Pleco from my LPS, and was told it was a common Pleco, As i have a few different common Pleco's, I started to notice that this pleco Looks nothing like my other Pleco's, and wondering if my LPS was wrong in what type of Pleco this is... Here are a few pictures, this guy is very shy, but at the same time very Aggressive, he is constantly ripping up any and all decorations and plants, and will chase any fish that comes to near... Was hoping some one might be able to tell me what kind of Pleco he is.... Have to love this one, He has lots of character!

Sorry about the pictures he is a fast little devil, and doesn't stay still for very long....

Looks like a pale Pterygoplichthys pardalis to me. Wait for Warborg, he/she is pretty good with the Ptery's.

I wish I had one like that. Mine has character but in his own intraverted way. I want to get another that comes out to look around sometimes. Nice Plec.

The term common has to be used loosely as there are 3 different kinds of commons. The Hypostomus plecostomus is much over looked nowdays, even though it's name is used often for a Pterygoplichthys disjunctivus and Pterygoplichthys pardalis a which are also sold as commons.

This is my first guess... a pale well marked pardalis.

My second guess would be a hybrid mix of some kind.

Third would be a Pterygoplichthys multiradiatus, pardalis were once classed with these guys

My fourth guess would be a Pterygoplichthys Undecimalis but the spots seem to far apart (hard to find pictures online)

ok SO what is he?
Leopard Pleco
pale Pterygoplichthys pardalis
leopard/sailfin pleco ??? not even sure there is such a pleco....
spotted sailfin
Pterygoplichthys multiradiatus
Pterygoplichthys Undecimalis

hoping to get the L number if anyone can help...

thanks
