Hello i am a complete noob to plecos. I have no idea how you identify them with the L-200 and all that stuff :nilly: lol...I have owned different kinds like rubber lip, sailfin, bristlenose but i was just wondering what kind this is...My LFS owner gave him to me for free for my 120 gallon..Sorry bout the pool quality pics

L#s are a way to identify many different plecos, both in coloration, or range. L200s are what my avatar is.
 
L numbers are a list of plecos that came about via DATZ magazine in order to ID plecos that did not have scientific names and so create a universal common name. This one won't likely have an L number, but is a nice "common".
 
I agree, what he means by checking the teeth is if the fish has "spoon" shaped teeth similar to a panaque then it be a fish in the cochliodon complex of hypostomus, with fish like Hypostomus soniae and L360.
