So, I was doing a little cleaning today in my tank with my Piranhas and decided to go after a small piece of leftover food in the corner. Normally my pleco doesn't seem to mind my cleaning or just about anything I do for that matter. I must have bumped him or scared him because he darted off but had no where to go with my hand in there. Anyway making his escape he cut his lip or sucker(whatever you might call it) and was bleeding from the wound. :nilly: Normally I would mind so much but I really like this pleco he has never once been scared or even acted like the piranhas were their he just goes on with his life, with his get out of my face or else attitude.

I felt horrible about it as I started thinking of ways to heal him or at least stop the bleeding... Then it hit me all my piranhas are gathered around him like I've never seen them:WHOA::nilly::WHOA:

So I removed him from the tank and placed him in a tank I have set up for a Purple Spilo that is coming tomorrow, at least until the bleeding stops...
So, I was wondering if there is a way to speed up his recovery and if so how?

Here's a pic >>> didn't get one of the wound because I figured he was stressed enough from the whole situation. Sorry for the picture/glass quality it was a fast trip from the tank to my camera to here.

pirranhas will eat him
They aren't with his piranhas anymore, read. Plus his other one isn't there yet and its unlikely that the new piranha that will be alone will go after him. Plecs are no joke, I've seen them beat the you know what out of wolffish.

maybe put some stress coat from API in thier you can get it at any lfs its got alo vera in it wich promotes healing and the product doubles as a chlorine clearer for your water changes

Stress coat is a good idea. Maybe some Melafix if you don't have stress coat handy. I'd also put some structure in the tank to make it feel more secure. Maybe some PVC pipe or a clay cave.

Thanks guys, I'll try to get some stress coat for him asap :D Money is tied up with the 180g tank but I should be able to pick some up this weekend. I'll also try to get a clay cave for him, I saw one for 2 or 3 dollars that would work. Good news is he was still able to eat after and seems to be doing great in my smaller tank. Although seems he didn't like the way I had my plants set up so he killed/moved half of them :irked: But other then that he should be fine and able to be in his old tank any day now ;) Thanks for all the help again...

save your money on the chemicals all he needs is some clean water and a place to hide so he won't be stressed.
