Hi..It's my first time to set up a 125g planted tank. I've placed 4 baby snakeheads (channa micropletes) and a single pleco...added some small fishes as feeders.

I was wondering if the pleco would eat the plants in the tank..would it eat the plants? I placed all the fishes just 3 days ago and when I looked this morning I saw some small holes on the leaves..not sure if it's the pleco or the feeders eating it.

What species is this pleco? There are over hundreds of species available and since plenty are poor swimmers, they may likely destroy the plants just by swimming on them. Failing to supplement the herbivorous ones with veggies and plenty of algae supply, they will attempt to eat the plants as a last resort. What species are the feeders as well and what plants were affected?

Snakeheads will probally bulldoze their share of plants....

Most species will not touch your plants. Many might be clumsy and uproot them or dig and uproot them depending on species and how well planted your plants are.

Im not really sure of the species but I believe this is the most common one...very dark in color, almost black. I will drop some veggies in today and hope it will be able to find it and eat it. I rarely see my pleco out in the open, it's always hiding somewhere hope it turns its attention to the veggies. thanks for the helpful replies!

Pics will help. How much did you pay for this fish?

I'll post pics as soon as I can see the pleco since it's always hiding..I've dropped in a few veggies, slipped it with the driftwood (pleco's favorite spot) hope it's going to start eating it. It's been a whole day and it hasn't touch the veggie.

This pleco is really cheap, it's less than 1$...Php 30.00 to be exact.

It's one of the common species which grows to 12 inches. I'm guessing Pterygoplichthys pardalis at the moment but that is one of the commonly available specimens in the Philippines and I believe we have over 3 species that exist around the local trade with two already proliferating in local rivers.
