so i have a rubberlip pleco and well he doesnt seem to be eating at all. i had him in a 115 with tons of algea and 2 trinidad plecos and an oto, well needless to say the algea iis gone all look fat except him. so what i decided to do was put him in my 10 gallon that has tons of algea to hopeing he will eat, but so far nothing the algea keeps growing. i am thinking about getting an oto for the tank and just putting him back in my big tank as show. what should i do? thanks

he hides in both tanks all the time nd is never seen unless you look for him.

Try smearing the foods with garlic and see if he ges tempted to eat. If not, watch out for his poo. Let us know how it looks.

I do encounter this problem with one of my sick L046 before too,you can tried getting the Seachem Garlic Guard from your LFS altought i am not sure wether is it available at your location and if u can grab abootle of it,try blending it with some bloodworms or pellet and soaked it in for 15 min before u dropped your food into the tank, this method works out great for me,hope it do well for your ones too:D

Is there any driftwood in the tank? PLecos have a complecated diet in the wild. 25% algae, 25% driftwood, 25% shrimp, worms, ect, and 25% detritus(plant material). I recomend sera wood chips or hikari wafers. I use spectrum wafers but they are harder to get. Plecos pretty much always hide so dont get discouraged. i always feed mine about 10 mintes before my lights go out. They are all nocturnal so if you get some of those coral life moon lights you can watch them go crazy at night eating everything in sight. i have a 5 in bristlenose, 6 in Vampire, 6 in blue eye, giant oto, SAE, and 4 smaller brown bristlenose about 2 inches all in a 37g living happilly. I have never seen algae in my tank but all my fish get a varried diet. I have alot of driftwood and plants. I feed frozen during day and wafers and a few pellets at night. i never see my Vampire eat but ive had him almost 2 years now. Rubbers are awsome plecos just dont stress him to bad swtiching tanks and all that to often.

sounds like ur not feeding him
