Pleco pairing up. The lighter to have a more round/broader head. Lighter one female, darker one male?

The lighter color is probably because it's new and is a little stressed from the move.

Looks like one stressed one, one not so stressed lol. They look to be P. pardalis.
Best way to sex them is by looking at the papilla. Females lies flat with the body/is recessed.

Well considering they are going to need a muddy bank or somewhere to spawn... I doubt they would be pairing up. If you want them too, your best off sexing them, and then providing them with the husbandry they need.

Nice pair of plecs! The light one looks a little malnourished. As davo stated, it takes muddy banks for breeding these plecs.

yeah best bet is probably but vent with a commons, try to give those fish summer cover, it has to get pretty warm in that shallow pond in direct sunlight.

they are only in the shallow pond for pictures. I read somewhere online that female (light one) have a broader head than male (dark one). Those two are HUGE if you see them in real life!

You should keep 'her' in there for a few days and pump her up with extra food. She's still hasn't fully bounced back from being neglected (over a month with no food!), and I wouldn't want her to start going after your goldies.

It never went after any of my fish during the short time it was in my tank, but I don't have goldfish.

Did you put the gibby in the pond too?
