I was wondering how much a 8 inch Hypostomus sp. is worth. He has a beautiful sail, I'll try to get some pics.

Not much sounds like your talking about a sailfin or a common. In mIchigan you have to give them to your local fish store.

sailfins arent Hypostomus theyre Pterygoplichthys. and i'd say you'd get like $10-$15 for it.

Typically 7-25 depending on quality. Some pet stores will give them away or sell them for like 1 or 2 dollars.

Sorry to derail but how do you differentiate between the common and sailfin pleco?
