Pleco recognizing owner

There is no question my cichlids recognize me. But my chocolate pleco has always been reclusive.
Recently whenever I enter the room, he comes out to check me out. He actually seems to stare at me and does not swim away when I place my hand on the glass next to his face.

I was wondering if anyone else has a pleco that is cordial to its owner?

Nope, my dad's pleco is too busy gnawing the driftwood to notice anybody

yeah my sailfin comes and checks out if I am bringing him some veggies.
