Hey guys. I’m fairly new to plecos. I have lda07 and l160 and l014. I’ve had them for a few years and have been raising them in my geophagus amd Altum angel display tank. I got them around 3.5-4 inches a year ago and haven’t really noticed much growth in them. I very rarely see them. I’m planning on adding a l600 soon, but my question is, should I put them in their own tank and grow them out that way? I throw in some good quality Pleco wafers by northin along with some other good food at night when the lights are off. I notice they’re out and about when I first turn the lights on in the morning so think they’re out and about eating at night. Any advice on how I should make sure they’re getting enough food and would it be worth just giving them their own tank? My geo sveni and Altum angel tank live in treated RO water and get multiple 50 percent water changes per week. Also are these plecos slow growers or are mine just growing slow since they’re sharing a tank and only getting to eat at night. Thank you for any help.

How is your tank set up and what size is it? As long as they're comfortable they should be pretty active. At most, mine have been shy until settled then come out with no issues.
What are you feeding currently? You mentioned potentially throwing in high quality wafers, why would you not use high quality? (Just curious, not trying to judge)

Depending on the size and number of Geos, your plecos could be getting intimidated and/or outcompeted for food but all of my pseudas have been in with Geos in the past.

As for growth rate, all of mine have grown a bit differently but I would say they generally have averaged 1" a year. I currently have LDA07, L600, L24, L25, L273, L096 and serratus. None hesitate to come out when there's food in the water.
