Hey guys, my pleco is very slow in growth, he is 1 year old now and yet to hit half a foot!! i believe its because of it being undernourished. As I keep 2 pacus and 2 gold severums, they keep gnawing on my pleco's cucumber especially pacus since they're active at night. How can I stop this??

I am NOT a pleco expert...

But wanted to add..my pleco enjoys shrimp and scallops..and those sink right to the bottom were she quickly grabs them up..however, I also feed algae wafers that sink quick to..

Also, my pleco hangs out in a log decoration and I will put the food directly in there..not letting the other fish get to the food...

Also is it possible your pleco is stunted...

idk what could be the problem but i to have a comman pleco and its a year old this month and its maybe 7-8inchs
was feed just sinking pellots up until a month ago when i started giving it cucumber and zuchinni sorry if i spelled it wrong but you get the idea

Do you have a positive ID for your Pleco...if I am not mistaken.. there is a pleco often labeled common that maxes out at a little under a foot..I think you can count the rays or something..go check into that...

Use a divider during feeding time. Adding more foods is asking for trouble IMO.

Wow, I'm not experienced or anything, I bought a simple Pleco from my local Walmart, it was so tiny and now about 3 months in it's just around 4 1/2-5 inches...it gets big very fast. I have quite a few objects in my tank to collect stuff for it to eat on.

Add two or three veggie clips and put the cucumber/zucchini/lettuce in there. You can also tir it to a rock with an elastic band and make it sink. You can also do that. But if you put a few peaces of big lettuce up their he should be able to get some. Also try some shrimp pellets.
