Can I keep a common pleco with a LMB and a black bullhead? I need an algae eater.

You would probably have more problems between the two catfish rahter then the bass but you can try it. IMO, don't get a pleco if all you want it to do is clean glass, they aren't worht it...at least not all the time and they do produce a lot of waste.

Waste I can handle. Right now I am changing water and tearing down the tank to remove algae twice a week.

Personally I have seen commons in some very cold water so as long as you acclimate it I think it would be fine.

What size should the pleco be? Bass is 5". I'm thinking of getting a six inch pleco.

Sounds like it would work. Apple snails are better at cleaning glass though.

Are apple snails the same as gold mystery snails?

Yea I think they are a different color of apple snails.

i had my pleco in my feeder tank before. no heater in it, and i think the water was around 60-70~. he was fine for a few weeks, and i gave him away, and i have him back again.
