Hello I have a common pleco in the range of 10 inches or so who got an open sore on his nose area a couple days ago. It seems to have gotten an infection of some sort, what is it and how can I treat it? Looks like a yellow gas bubble, cant seem to find any info. Additionally the pleco occasionally gets large white sections like a reptile about to shed skin, the person I got him from said it is normal but I would like to clarify.

Could be a pus pocket. If dose some triple sulfa and metronidazole for now. If not better after that then consider lancing it.

Should I dose my whole tank or bucket and treat just him? I looked those up, I use seachem so it would be Metro and Paraguard correct? For reference of the tank I have cats including other plecos, bichirs and African cihlids

Triple sulfa is a abx and not paragaurd. Can use the seachem metroplex.

I’m having the same problem. A yellow blister just popped out of my pleco’s side. Did this treatment worked for yours? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
