I am planning to get one L450 or L333 in my 53 gallon but I do have some plants in the tank so is it possible that I can keep these pleco in my tank? Plants I have are anubias on wood, moss balls, java moss, mini pellia moss.
Yeah you should be fine, plant pleco problems usually arise from them eating the softer leaf type of plants, and/or uprooting plants constantly with tail swipes
Another option is to "move" the plants to the upper parts of the tank (like the anubias and moss) since plecos spend most of their time near the bottom. If you get rooted plants, another option is to try to protect the crown of the plant with a cage (I cut a hole in the black plastic pots aquatic plants come in)
Just bought a 4'' L333 today. I am new to pleco so I have few question with it. I got few flower pot in my tank already but do I need those pleco cave for them to hide? Also what type of food I should feed it? I have Hikari sinking wafer and NLS 5mm thera A sinking pellets only.
What's the PH and hardness for these guy by the way? In this week I starting to lower the PH with the water that soaked with almond leaves in a bucket when I do the water change so my tank is actually a blackwater tank. The PH of my tank is 7.6 and KH is 6 right now.
