your list of pleco are all good.. execpt Goldy is very very demanding, they are meat eaters..

Royal, driftwood and a regular diet of cucumbers is a MUST... they eat wood.

Red Tail sternella or the common name L-114 is also a meat eater..

If your pleco tanksmates are meat eaters.. huntes like Arowana or Pbass... wood eaters and algae eaters would be great..

Meat eating pleco wont be as great.. as it will cause tankmates to fight for food.. and pleco dont hunt... they scavenge.

Some Great pleco choice are L-200, L-128, L-81, too much.. do some reaserach on planetcatfish.com

I agree with the rest but I think the general consensus on L14 is not that they are 'very very demanding'.

I wouldnt recommend L81 though, people can have a lot of trouble with small ones due to diet issues.

Ive kept/keep royals (L190,L27,L191), Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps, L200, L128, Panaque maccus, Chaestoma sp, Hypostomus cochliodon and havent had any trouble with these.

my gibbi is not much of a scavenger he acts like a hunter hehhe

ALL plecos are cool haha

maybe some more details about your setup could narrow down the pleco list....tanksize? tankmates? live plants? temp? and whatever else you can post up

L-114 are awesome plecos but be forewarned, they are very shy at small ages. I just saw my 4"er last night for the first time in a month. And that's because I was watching the tank at 1A.M. with the lunar lights on. My larger psuedacanthicus seem to be much more outgoing though. I do agree with most of what Zerojquan said. Herbivores are a great choice for larger predatory tanks because of the food competition. I have a 10" silver saum with my 11" psuedacanthicus leopardus(both carnivorous) and I have started hand feeding my pleco to get around this issue. Tank size plays a factor also. Most royals can grow around 18". Goldies around 13". And L-114 around 10". The dull eyed royal(L-191) stays around 10".

Could I feed the carnivore plecos shrimp?? That is what I feed my other fish.

Yes. I feed mine shrimp, tilapia, algae wafers, krill, etc. Also if you can get them eating veggies like zuchinni that will help balance the diet. Another thing to think about is food competition. Are the rest of your fish gonna eat everything before the pleco comes out? They tend to be nocturnal scavengers. Generally speaking predetory fish are'nt the best tank mates for a carnivorous pleco for the fact they eat everything before the plecos get their share. If you are feeding your other fish shrimp I would suggest a herbivore such as a royal L-027, L-090(I believe), L-190, L-191, or L-330 to keep away from food competition.

will an albino pelco (5 incher) thrive with a Jardini (9inch) and about 10 half inch sized gold fish? I am thinking of getting one this weekend at $4.
