How many of you have kept large #'s of plecos in acrylic tanks? How badly do they REALLY damage the acrylic? I'm going to be getting a 180 gallon or larger soon and I've always been afraid to drop the money on acrylic because of plecos scratching the hell out of it. I like acrylic 'cause of the great customization options, but I might be stuck with glass.
Please chime in with any experience/opinoins.

Mine haven't scratched mmy 250 as far as I can tell.... I have one 10-12" and the other 7-8".. My kids have done 10000 times more damage to my tank when i wasn't lookin than my Plecs.. Both Common plecs..

Plus scratches that plecs would put on an acrylic tank in my opinion would not be noticible do to the water :)

Are they common plecos? They don't really have teeth like acanthicus and pseudacanthicus sp. and I have a LOT of plecos lol.
I can only imagine what kids will do to an acrylic tank:WHOA: , fortunately those scrathes are on the outside and easily buffed out

I hadn't noticed that you already stated that they are "commons" sorry, BTW fantastic job on your acrylic tank restoration!

it will depend on the species. panaques have teeth that will deffo damage and scrape down the acryl. other non wood eating species would be cool i guess.
