Does anyone keep there plecos with a sand bottom? I am thinking about changing over from gravel to sand when I move house. Do they burrow into the sand if there food gets covered?

I keep a watermelon royal in a sand bottom tank. Never seen him burrow but he is a veggie guy and chews on the wood and alge wafers most of the time. I have geo's in the tank that keep the sand turned over.

I have both a L330 & L190 in a tank with sand. Each is about 12". They usually just skim the surface of the sand when feeding.

I've never thought about it. Haha! I was thinking of getting a Pleco and I have white sand as a substrate. I lined the bottom of my tank with eggcrate though so that my rocks won't move. They're sitting on the eggcrate with the sand just around the bottom of them. So if they want to burrow, they certainly may!

Yep all my tanks have sand bottoms and the plecos seem to like it alot more then when I used to have the gravel.

I have sand in all of my tanks as well. They are more than OK with the sand.

I have sand in one tank and my 8" Royal thinks he's a bulldozer...:headbang2
He excavates little pits all the time with a couple of waves of his tail or taking that big head of his an burrowing around.

Go for it fun to watch!
