has anyone ever seen a pleco play with a glass thermometer before ?
my 9" common pleco as started bumping it around at night.

1. its driving me nuts (all i hear all night long is, clik click click click.....)
2 im scared he might eventually break it.

so i think im going to do get a digital one tomorrow.

anyone else even seen or heard of this behavior?

Never heard of this behaviour with Plecos, can you post pics? Sounds interesting

my pleco, and heater are bestfriends.

Sounds like the pleco is either trying to hide behind it or wants to rasp algae residuals off it.

I have had one break in a tank but not sure who did it more then likely the jags not the pleco but who knows.

My 5 inch L-114 would do this so I purchased one that sticks on the outside of the glass. I still kept the glass one but check it periodically since the sticker kind are not all that reliable. I didn't want the L-114 to break the damn thing so i took it out. LOL

Mine just like to hide directly behind the heater. Does your heater have suction cups? Just make sure it is attached to the glass securely.
