Ive had a bristle nose for about 5 years now in my 125g with various cichlids over the time but never another pleco. A few days ago I picked up a vampire L240 and they will not stop fighting, Ive went from very minimal tank decor to throwing anything I could in the tank to add extra hidding spots and nothing seems to stop the bristle nose from seaking out the vampire. as of last night I couldnt take it anymore and rehomed the BN pleco to a 55g.
So can i just not house these 2 plecos together at all?
would reintroducing my BN after the vampire has a chance to get established give me a chance?
IF i cant keep them together can I take all the clutter out of my tank with 1 pleco?

pics didnt work. the BN is a male 5.25" and the vampire is presumably male 6"+

I had a similar issue with a 6" male bristlenose I added him with a striped raphael and an L190 the final straw was when he had my striped raphael stuck up against the inside of the decoration and was trying to shove him out but the raphael couldn't get away and they both ended up bloody so I moved the bristlenose. If you keep the vampire as the only pleco in the tank as long as he has a place to hide you can remove the clutter. My sultan which is similar to a vampire does fine with the L190 and L027a in it's tank and I'm actually floating my new L137 in there right now

interesting, i had no idea a bristlenose would be so damn aggressive i assumed the vampire with teeth and size would have won that fight.

the tank is plenty large enough i should be able to get away with more the 1 pleco without issues right?
they are with a pair of green terrors (rivulatus)

yeah you should definitely be able to keep multiple ones in a 125. What maybe the problem is because both of ours were full grown adults that have been without competition from other plecos for so long they feel they are king and turn into *******s

After 5+ years in the tank it's all his territory. I was hoping to try to put him back in after a few days in my 55g. However I'm leaning more towards keeping him in the 55 for life
