Hey guys, I'm really sorry if this is the wrong section, but it seemed like the right one so here goes. I have a 14 gallon tank with 4 fish in it at the moment, and I was thinking of getting a pleco for the tank. My friend told me that the pleco would out grow the tank easily, and end up most likely suffering and dying.

I'd hate that to happen, but I'd love a pleco. Are there any specific pleco's who would not outgrow a fish tank in the 10-20 gallon region?

Thanks!

Really small plecos would be a clown pleco which grows to about 5", around 8$, or a zebra pleco, which gets around 4", but are REALLY expensive. But still they would be too big for the 14g

ya.. there are plecos like that...

Petsmart sells this type, Rubberlip pleco or bulldog pleco.. they stay very small about max 4"
Theres also albino bristle nose pleco, candy stripe pleco, several others actually.. but their not easily found...

If u absolutely MUST get a pleco.. try rubberlip..

Just to help maintain the algae, and I also love how they look. I found out a common misconception is that pleco's can live off of ONLY the algae in the tank. I'm glad I found out that isn't true or I'd have quite the future mistake on my hand. I'll be prepared for em though ^^
