Pleco's in a acrylic tank?

Is it true that you shouldn't put pleco's in a acrylic tank?

certain types really do damage to the acrylic with there rasping mouth parts..Depends what you want to keep!

Some of the larger panaques can scratch up the inside surface of the acrylic.

some of the larger panaques really scratch the inside of them, and so do all the other larger toothed sp, but panaques can leave craters apparently (i think theres a pic on here). they have 4 rows of 6-8 teeth depending on spp.

Doubt if I would ever keep any pleco in an acrylic tank. They all rasp!

Large panq would be a no no but i keep many LARGE pseudocanthicus in my 240gal acrylic and all is fine
