Pleuropthalma colour change

The Channa closest to the camera was green for 5 months whilst the other turned blue, now 5 months later what I thought was a female (green) has now over the last month gone blue??? any ideas??


BTW they are the same age

Only a guess but maybe one was more dominant to begin with and now both are mature? Such beautiful fish though - Makes me thank my lucky stars that in the uk they are legal!

They are great looking fish. I can't wait till mine get some size and colour on them.

wow?!!... that is very interesting? Has the one that changed, remained and kept the blue color? Or does it flucuate between the green? You try shining a flashlight directly at their bodies yet?... What size (length) are they now, btw? Please be sure to keep us all posted with any news.

Yup, both are now blue, the one that changed recently shows no sign of colour fluctuation. Odd that it waited 6 to 7 months later than it's tankmate to go from green to blue.

They are about 10 to 11 inches now

They are really stunning WLR As said above it could be that a previously subdominant male has now matured, or maybe that they've paired up? My breeding sp. "assam" now show much better colours than before they were an item....
