How would I go about making one? THe build itself is pretty easy, but how would I go about making a lid that would seal and doesnt require a special machine to make? Or is there a secret site that already has empty containers with a oring sealed top? Iv searched and searched and have found nothing.

And no I wont go wet dry, never! I need this puppy to handle 3600gph with one pump only, closest sand filter is 26" and I dont have room in the basement for something that big

I like these,http://www.aquaticeco.com/subcategories/428/20-Filters but dont think they can take 60gpm with floss inside, and the ocean clears dont have 1.5" in/outs

polycarbonate light tube w/bracing and high pressure diy lids should work
wrap some scotch tape on it and some zip ties. the tubes are shatter proof.

for lid,get an o ring at home depot and use a pvc end and strap it down or something, ask at hd for high pressure end caps with o rings or something

strapping down, and scotch tape dont sound user friendly. I need to be able to take the top on and off to clean the filters and a garanteed seal. Ill keep looking around to see if there is some diy out there somewhere. If only I could thread a pipe that big.

seems this guy has done it. I can use a 2500gph pump so 41.6gpm, it looks like my best bet would just to use 2 of the filters and take out the catridge and use floss. Seems with a sediment filter they can run 20gpm so with floss it should be way more.

Now this 2500gph pump is 2" in 1.5" out so in someones opinion could I split the 1.5" into dual 1" go into both filter housings, then either combine them back to 1.5" or just run dual 1" to the tank? Or just run 1.5" into dual 1.5" filters and back to the tank? This tank I am planning will clean the water 12.5 times in 1 hr.

I thought you had to have 3600gph? Don't wimp out on us .

How about these with 2" bulkheads

I've threaded large PVC on a lathe, a local machine shop can do this for you, just use sched. 80 or better. It's a wide open frontier from there.

Thats the site I even looked at for my buckets. The first link is perfect!

As for the first pump, I dont think the smaller fish would enjoy the tank being filtered 16 times a hour. That would be one hell of a current, so I figured I would knock it down 1100gph. Its just a temp tank so I am sure I would have to upgrade to a bigger pump down the line anyway

Thanks doc
