where do you buy cheep sheets of any of the above. I called ace hardware today and they wanted $82 for a 4x8 sheet of 1/8" thick plexi and I don' really want to pay that much b/c I will need somewhere in the ballpark of 2 sheets.

I also just looked at ebay and they didn't have the large sheets like I need. Is there anywhere anyone can suggest that would be localy found anywhere like lowes. Or found online that can ship for under an arm and a leg.

I am not in need of it fast but I will need it within a couple of months.

go to a fiber glass manufacturer , they will have large sheets 98" x76" i think up to a full inch thick and they usually have so much of it for their own manufacturing that they will prolly sell it cheaper because they get it cheaper .

Google is your friend.

If it's for an aquarium, don't use plexi glass. It warps and is not very strong. I'm not sure about lexan, as I've never tried it. Cast acrylic is the way to go. Glass shops in your town will have it available.

All I am needing it for is to make a top for my new tank It is odd shaped so I need a custom top. If I have extra I was planning on trying my hand at a small aquarium or something for a sump...drip tray more then likly.

I'll have to ask around about the cast acrylic I'm about an hour away from a big ciy I dought anyone around me will have any.

Go to Lowes/Home Depot. They have a decent selection of acrylic. They can even cut it for you to your size, you just need to buy the whole sheet. It's relatively cheap as well.

Usually they have plexi, not acrylic.

Yeah I've been to some that have plexi and others that do have acrylic seems like a hit and miss. But I have bought a large sheet of acrylic that I had them cut into a divider. Try some places that deal with plastics/glass as well.
