i have a 5 month old jar, iv notice him lately is that he keeps dwelling now on the bottom and not on top, i knw this is unusual for a jar for they normally stay on top.. and he eats only once a day now, unlike before twice even thrice a day.. i notice it probably could be water conditions, my gravel has started to develop algaes... so wat im planing next time when cleaning the entire tank is to take all the gravel out to have better water quality..

but the next problem is, my JAR might have drop eye, since the bottom is now bare.. what to do now?

can any1 here please help me and give me some of your opinions on whats the best thing to do? thanks!!

Try a UV sterlizer, worked for me, keep checking your water params.......very important.........I had the same thing happen with two of my jars, if you don't take care of it they could get sick, mine developed cloudy eyes and then wouldn't eat, they are just getting better now and that was two months ago.

wats a UV sterilizer? our LFS hir aint that complit.. should i tke out the gravel? if so, wat about the posibility of a jar geting drop eye?
wat to do nxt?.. tnx

if there is not enough top swimming space they will swim towards the middle...atleast thats what mine did

Yes...what are the water parameters? Seriously...I don't know if I'm gonna spark some flaming but seriously - ALL CAPTIVE AROWANAS GET DROPEYE, and frankly despite the many many many many theories, NO ONE knows why. So I wouldnt worry so much about the bare bottome causing dropeye....its gonna happen anyway...:)

Jars asians and blacks all get it much less then silver do though.
As for a uv sterilizer, sure it would work/help but is much more money then needed. Just make sure you have the proper filtration and do 2 25% or 1 or more 50% water changes a week. Keep up with them! and if you have gravel vac it every water change.

1st off... DONT CLEAN THE ENTIRE TANK.
u myt just upset the balance and set ur aquarium off to another cycling stage.
algaes on gravel is normal and fine. what i wud suggest u to do is keep ur water parameters intact. Check them and do water changes if needed.

For 1st aid, add aquarium salt and raise the temp 2 degrees more.
good luck.

oh yeah one more thing....
Jardinis OR ANY OTHER AROWANAS DO NOT GET DE BECAUSE OF BARE BOTTOM.

thanks alot guys!! i just took out my gravel, so as to provide better water quality.. yeah i do 50% water change once a week.. the problem with my jar now is that his left eye is kinda murky or cloudy.. i jst bot medicine from the shop, and they told me to change water at least 20% every other day and put 20% of medicine everytime i do water changes..i hope this works.. this is driving me crazy here, im so worried with my jar..
