sorry to bother you guys but I need some expert advice.
I just got this new lungfish and I kind of trying to decide what ,,brand"my fish is. I bought it as an Aethiopicus. BUt when I bought my Dolloi they also sold it as an aethiopicus.
I'M trying to figure out the differents between equally sized lungs.Aethiopicus and Annectens (except for patern and max size)
By looking at pics on the internet it looks like the Tail fin on the annectens starts right in the middel when you look at the front fins and the back ,,legs".
It also seems thet the fins on The Aethiopicus are longer than the annectens.

When I look at my new lung it has this Annectens feel to it but when I look at the shape of the head and fins it looks like an Aethiopicus.

Hope some one can help me out here.
The only lungfishes I have ever seen are mine, and I only have the internet.
Most of the annectens pictures on the internet are of young fish.

PLS help me out. what type is the Albino

hard to tell which it is.. i'm not a pro though...you might get a better response if you use all side view pics....
i just wanted to say she's a beauty, and i hope you love'er

i'm not positive what the albino is (looks like it could be aethiopicus but again i'm not sure). the middle one is aethiopicus (i believe its the subspecies aethiopicus congicus). the last one is annectens.

Only the Albino is mine I placed the other 2 pix as a ref.
just to point out the difs between annectens and the aethiopicus.
I hope that someone who has or had both species can tell me the difference in body structure, so I can id mine.

thanx,

Here is a pic of mine 1,5 months after I got it. it did some growing it's 82 cm now. (got it at 78 cm) and he gained a lot of weight.

these last pics are amazing ;)

at lateral shot of your lungfish would be much more useful than a front-view head shot. if you can get that, we can help you out a bit more.

albinos are tough, especially between the annectens and aethiopicus, since pattern is actually a good way of telling normal morphs apart easily. more albino aethiopicus seem to come through than annectens, but that's just a general comparison.

if you can get a good lateral shot we can probably give you a better ID on the species. nice looking fish regardless!--
