i have a new to me 7'x2'x2' tank..200G i think. I am exploring the best opion for filtration. I always over filtrate my tanks by at least double cause my tap water sucks. Would a few big aqua clears, and a wet/dry system be good for overdoing it enough?

Also, can someone educate me on wet/dry's work, and the best way to go on a 200G tank? Thanx to all.....Chris

Filtration won't help with crappy tap water unless it has a lot of ammonia for some reason.

I'll try to get a drawing of how a wet/dry works.

I don't think that carbon will help your nitrate problem:(

Nope. The process is ammonia>nitrite>nitrate
Nitrate is usually removed with water changes , but can be removed with plants as well. there are some chemical medias that claim to remove nitrate but I don't trust them.

Eheim is an awesome filter. I can't tell you much about the carbon you linked to because I never use carbon. My all time favorite filter is a wet/dry and I'm still trying to come up with a simple way to explain how they work.

They're really quite simple, inexpensive, and effective.
