so i came across this website on Red Tail Giant Gourami's and it said:

" The Giant Red Tailed Gourami is a slightly smaller, more colorful version of its cousin, the true Giant Gourami, Osphronemus gouramy"

and that it grows..."With a maximum size of near to 20 inches"

is this true?

if not, then do all GG's get the the same size? (larger than 24")

There are three type off GG, the common, red tail and elephant ear

There are three types off GG, the common, red tail and elephant ear, I would say as an average they will all get to 20''+

You will end up needing a very large tank for them as they do not just grow to the tank size, they just grow and grow.

Aggression can be a problem, they're was a pole on here a while back that went something along the lines of 'Do your gg show aggression to it's tank mates?' and it ended up being about 50-50

If you've got a spare hour all you need to know can be found here:

Yup it will grow to at least 20 inches and I found mine to be much more aggressive than my GG, attacking tankmates that looked similar with much gusto. They do calm down as they get bigger (over 15 inches). A gorgeous fish that needs a huge tank.

Do you have the standard one now or the Red tail?

Just my standard GG now, my RTGG jumped out the tank one night and didn't make it :( it was a bummer as i was very attached to him. I can't bring myself to get another.

Shame about the red tail:(
