Anyone got a good site for how to plumb a sump for dummies?

Have a tank with side holes... thinking about plumbing a sump with it since I just found read you can't just plumb a canister straight into the holes (unless I read wrong?)

Thanks for the help in advance

I don't have any evidence the would support that you cannot plumb a canister to those holes.

But sumps are pretty straight forward. Tank -->mechanical media -->biological media -->pump --> tank

You can use the holes for the canister you just need the right stuff, canisters can't have air in them so the intake needs to be completly under water.

On the other hand if you are drilled for a sump that might be a good way to go. I have a canister and it works great but with a messy turtle i have to clean it a lot. With a sump cleaning the mech. filtration is easier and faster.
