I've got a tank that's drill at the bottom with 1" drain and 1" return. It was purchased a few years ago as a complete set up with an ehiem 2026 hooked up to it. I have a spare fx5 and want to hook it up to the tank.

Would 1" drains/returns be too restrictive for the fx5 and could this burn out the pump?

Thanks!~

I was given this link when I asked this question

1" plumbing is what the fx5 is equipped with so it will not be restrictive.

Thanks for the info guys, I think I'm mistaken on the ID of the drains/returns. I'll check it out when I get home. Starting to think it might be 1/2". I just plumbed my new tank with 1" drains so not sure why I would think they're 1". Anyways, thanks for the info.

I'm going to get back to you guys on the ID of the tubes once I get home, but they're basically the vinyl tubes you get with the ehiem 2026/2028's

If they are 1'' ID then you ARE ALL CLEAR. I finished doing the same thing 4 days ago and the tank is already up and running. NO LEAKS and NO FLOW RESTRICTION.

Well check the vinyl tubes on the eheim and they're 16mm ID (5/8"ish) How does this sound? Bad idea?
