Reposting of my original thread hoping to get some new input since I gave the wrong ID last thread.

I've got a tank that's drill at the bottom with 5/8" drain and 5/8" return. It was purchased a few years ago as a complete set up with an ehiem 2026 hooked up to it. I have a spare fx5 and want to replace the ehiem with it for more filtration.

The vinyl tubes on the eheim say they're 16mm ID (5/8"ish) Bad Idea to plumb this to the fx5 with a 1" to 5/8" reducer?

Will this burn out or cause too much strain on the pump?

Thanks!~

It will not burn out the pump. but i see it as a waste of a filter. you still can do it but, why not run the 1'' pvc/tube and turn the valve to slow the flow?

I'd like to but not sure if there's a 1" bulkhead that will fit the predrilled holes in the tank. I hoping to just do a straight up swap of the filters. The tank is a wierd german tank (i think from a company called aquarien or something) and came with the ehiem filter.

Do ehiem professionals have the same diameter input/outputs as the 20XX series?
